Costa Rica Day One

Our team arrived early at DFW for our morning flight to San Jose, Costa Rica. We had a super nice attendant who helped out our group check into our flight with all the busyness of summer travel. We had a relatively smooth three and one half hour flight into Costa Rica. Upon landing, our team headed towards visa/immigration and then baggage claim. Hooray! all of our bags and supplies made it. After one more agriculture screening, we were headed out of the airport to meet Marco, our guide and translator for the week with Hope Partners. We all gathered in the bus and headed to the hotel for lunch.
After lunch, we headed back on the bus for our walking tour of historical San Jose. The weather was so lovely with a nice cool breeze and cloud coverage. Marco gave us the history of Costa Rica. Did you know that Costa Rica does not have an official army?
We all enjoyed the lovely green parks, big interesting trees and lots of shade.
After our tour, we all unpacked and headed for a yummy pescado dinner. Our team met briefly to go over the next day's events and then it was off to an early bedtime.  Tomorrow we will go to church service with Open House Church and meet up with the Hope Partners staff in preparation for our week.
buenas noches! hasta luego!
